All employees are entitled to be paid on time in accordance with the terms of their contract whether this be a written or implied contract agreed between the parties.

Where that doesn’t happen the employee can redress the situation by bring a claim for Breach of Contract or Unlawful Deduction of Wages which can be pursued at the civil courts or at the Industrial Tribunal.

Often the amount of pay in dispute between the parties is not only the basic amount and/or the number of hours worked but also other sums such as the amount of the commission or the bonus, or indeed, the amount of paid holiday or notice which the employee might be due in accordance with the terms of their contract or as guaranteed under statute.
